Impossible Day

by

“Impossible day. I don’t complain. I’m over it, I guess.”

-Autolux

It began with Reyes returning to the DL. Woe is Mets fan.

It continued when the Braves won again. Poor middling Wild Card hopefuls.

After that, the Mets forgot how to play catch. Poor fundamentals.

Then a familiar umpire blew the call. Poor anti-replay traditionalists.

It ended with many runners stranded. Good for this guy.

_______

It was an impossible day. But let’s not lose sight of how happy we were just yesterday. Winning 3 of 4 in L.A. is great.

So chalk tonight up as uncharacteristic. Laugh it off and move on.

    So we should.

We took them three of four.

Yesterday was an ‘all or nothing day’ and we came up with all the mistakes and THE bad call, and nothing gained in our bid to climb up the wildcard ladder.
Darn it! Why can’t THEY ( Phillies and Braves ) lose a few for a change?

I keep telling myself that there is no way they continue at this scorching pace. If the Mets take care of their own business, eventually they’ll start making ground. At the very least, they’ve moved up a few spots in the pecking order in the WC race.
